Ladies, what are your sewing stories?

When did you start, what made you inspired to try it out in the first place?

Is there anything you like to sew the most?

Do you do it as a hobby only or want/managed to turn it into something profitable?

Very nice topic, thank you Melinda.

I started young, around 7. I was stubborn, I wanted to make many colorful dresses for my Barbie dolls, and I did it all by hand.

I made them until my teenage phase, and then I tried to make some clothes for myself.

At some point I got and tested the sewing machine (not some super professional one). I liked it and it got me further into fashion.

I'm proud of the skill that I have, it can be useful sometimes, however now I'm into some other things in fashion and beauty field, so I stopped sewing. It will always be a beautiful memory and special part of my life.

I'm interested to hear your story!  :)

Thanks!! I'm happy you found your thing in fashion! 8)

For me, sewing kind of happened by accident. One day, around 20 years ago, My grandma decided to gift me her amazing, vintage sewing machine and I thought... well, why not try it out?
I had some old jeans and random fabric laying around, I'd just stash them, thinking I'll reuse them someday.

So I decided to try making a bag. First one? Total mess! Seams all over the place, it barely looked like a bag! But something about it felt... right, you know?
That day, I discovered that upcycling is my thing.

I'm still all about it. Tote bags are my favorite to make - practical but still artsy. It's like each one tells its own story, patched together from scraps that would've just been thrown away!

I just love how sewing lets me mix creativity with a little bit of saving the planet vibes.
